A long strange trip

Howard came late to the art world by way of a long, strange, winding path. After graduating High School in Georgia, he attended and dropped out of college to meander through life searching for a “place” to call his own. During these years of exploration, he finally went back to college and graduated from Northeast Louisiana University with a degree in Radio/TV/Film. From there he pursued a career in television, working for Turner Entertainment Group in Atlanta.

On September 11, 2001, everything for everyone changed overnight. Being a U.S. Navy reservist, Howard was recalled to active duty and spent the next 22 years serving as a Public Affairs Officer across the globe. Upon completion of a long and successful military career, he retired as a Navy Captain and settled in the mountains of western North Carolina to take a consulting job in the growing quantum technology field. It was here he pursued what he thought would be a “fun hobby” dabbling in painting.

Always fascinated by abstract and surrealism, Howard’s style draws from his time living and traveling overseas and looking within to bring out color, shapes, and ideas that reflect the world he experiences.
